Squaw Valley or Olympic Valley? The valley is officially called Olympic Valley since the town actually called Squaw Valley is located east of Fresno. But we call it Squaw Valley as most do, but stay tunes. There is talk about changing the ski area’s name. Rumors are “Alpine Meadows North” or “Alterra.”
This popular valley surrounded by majestic granite peaks has grown into a year-round destination. During the warm season visitors and locals enjoy the beautiful hiking trails, paved bike trail, and golfing at the Resort at Squaw Creek. Shopping and dining can be found in the Village at Squaw, most of them dog-friendly. There are many kid friendly options, from mini golf, to musical performances, bungee jumping, movies, and more. Squaw Valley is conveniently located between Historic Truckee and Tahoe City via Highway 89.
